Soteroula Christou is a clinician, Superior Medical Officer/Administrator of the Nicosia Thalassaemia Centre at the Archbishop Makarios III Hospital. She has extensive experience in the clinical management of haemoglobinopathies. She oversees all aspects of care for patients with β-thalassaemia, haemoglobin H disease, and heterozygous and homozygous individuals bearing variant haemoglobins.
Soteroula Christou participates in a number of research projects; she is currently a collaborating member on the ENERCA, ITHANET and EuroBlood Network project.
Her main research interest includes chelation therapy, gene therapy for thalassaemia, genotype/phenotype correlations. Education activities include training and teaching to medical students.
